This is board has been such a great help for knitting this project, and everyone's pictures on Wendy's gallery are downright inspiring! I've finished two fmbs and am working on a third, with yarn for a fourth...call me addicted!
For my second bag, I used a couple of mystery mohair yarns for a wide stripe near the top. For one of the mohairs, which had a recommended needle size of 7 (I knit my bags on 10 1/2s), I knit one strand of the mohair with one strand of the body yarn (Peruvian Collection, worsted weight). For the other mohair, which had a recommended needles size of 5, I used only the mohair, but doubled stranded it. The mohairs did felt up rather hairily, if ya know what I mean, and the stripe didn't end up felting as much as the rest of the bag. But because it's an accent, not the body of the bag, I thought it turned out fine.
I've sent pictures to Wendy, and the longer mohair fibers are easy to see at the sides of the bag.
